The economical, reliable pickup truck T3 was manufactured from 1979. The completely newly developed car with its modern, functional design was visibly more spacious than its predecessor. As the last type with a rear engine made by VW, it was regarded as the last real Bulli. Depending on the version, its four-cylinder offered 50 to 112 hp. As usual, the transporter appeared in various commercial vehicle versions, but also in the form of a camper van for private purposes. In particular, the successful version of the Joker by the Gütersloh-based company Westfalia, with which VW had been successfully cooperating since the 1950s, was very popular. The Westfalia Joker is ideally suited as a multifunctional vehicle for commuting to work, for everyday use, but also for longer holiday trips. Over 70,000 copies of this home on wheels have been sold, testifying to its great popularity at home and abroad.
