The four-engine Avro Lancaster was without a doubt the most famous of all RAF heavy bombers of World War II.
From 1942 onwards it formed the backbone of the night bomber offensives deep in Germany and became famous for the sinking of the Tirpitz and the destruction of the Mohne and Eder dams.
